About Navigating Reality
How this came about
Navigating Reality has grown out of many years of living with the impact of a serious accident in our family.
While the accident itself happened some time ago, the reality of navigating care, assessments, funding decisions and official processes has been ongoing — and, in many ways, is only becoming more complex as time goes on.
Like many families, we found ourselves having to learn systems we didn’t understand, often while already dealing with exhaustion, uncertainty and emotional strain. The language was unfamiliar, the processes unclear, and the stakes felt very high.
We are not professionals, advisers or experts. We are a family who have had to learn how these systems work by living through them over time.
The resources on this site bring together personal experience and publicly available information, with the aim of helping others feel less lost, better prepared, and more confident taking part in these processes.
